Win a round by bringing the opponent's HP gauge down to zero. The player who takes two rounds first, will win the match. If the timer reaches zero, the player with more HP remaining will take the round.
|Shows the remaining HP of each character in the game.
A player will lose when this bar reaches zero.
|A gauge at the bottom of the screen, required for more powerful actions, such as Distortion Drives, Astrals Heats or Rapid Cancels.
Used mainly for offensive techniques.
|Required for a stronger-than-normal defensive barrier.
If the gauge reaches zero, however, the character will go into a "Danger" state, where defenses are lowered significantly.
It will regenerate over time.
|Shows whether the player can use an Overdrive or a Beak Burst.
Once either move is used, the icon will dim, and regenerate over time.
|Shows the remaining time left in a round. When the counter reaches zero, a round is over.
If neither player is down before the timer reaches zero, the person with the most remaining HP will win.

Basic controls and movements are done with eight directions on the lever, and four buttons.
In addition to the weak, medium, and heavy attacks, there is a unique attack, a Drive attack, that each character has.
|Barrier Guard||← (blocking) A+B
While activating the barrier guard, the character will perform a stronger guard at the expense of the Barrier Gauge. This enhanced block pushes the opponent away quicker, and prevents chip damage. It is also the only way to block certain anti-air attacks, or crush triggers. (Blocking a crush trigger will greatly regenerate the Barrier Gauge.)
|Throw||Neutral or ← (blocking) B+C
Performs a throw attack that cannot be blocked. If the character(s) are on the ground, it will be a ground-throw. If the character are in the air, it will be an air-throw. Throws can be performed no matter what the state of the opponent. (Blocking, idle, taking damage, etc.)
The only way to escape a throw, is to perform a throw-escape at the right moment. However, certain throws that are executed via a special command, or ""command throws"" cannot be escaped if the victim is thrown while in a normal state.
|Throw Escape||B+C while being thrown
Escapes an enemy's throw. While guarding, or taking damage, any type of throw can be evaded, and the window of opportunity is longer.
However, there are certain instances where a throw escape cannot be used. If the attacker is hit with a throw, the game will register it as a "Throw Counter", and it cannot be escaped. Or, if the throw escape command is inputted too soon, it will result in a "Throw Reject Miss".
|Ukemi||Aerial Ukemi: Hold the A, B or C Button while taking damge in the air (+ ← / → or Neutral)
Emergency Wake-up: Hold the A, B or C Button down after getting knocked down to the ground.
Recovers from a damaged state. Using it in conjunction with a direction, will wake the character up in said direction. An emergency wake-up is performed immediately after hitting the ground. Each type of ukemi has a short period of "invulnerability".
|Wake-ups||All Wake-ups: Hold the A, B or C Button while knocked down to the ground (+ ← / ↓ / → or Neutral)
Recovers from the downed state. While down, characters are vulnerable to enemy attacks. Combining the wake-up command with a direction on the lever, will get the character back on their feet. Note, the forward wake-up has a slight window of "invulnerability".
|Counter Assault||Press the lever forward when the opponent attacks, and press the A + B Buttons simultaneoulsy. At the expense of 50% of the Heat Gauge, it will push the opponent back from their string of attacks.
However, a combo initiated from a Counter Assault cannot finish off the opponent.
|Rapid Cancel||A + B + C simultaneously, when an attack hits or is blocked.
At the expense of 50% of the Heat Gauge, a Rapid Cancel will interrupt any offensive action, and return the character to a neutral state.
|Distortion Drive||A powerful and flashy attack that takes 50% of the Heat Gauge.|
|Astral Heat||A powerful finishing move.
Only usable under the following conditions:
|Crush Trigger||Neutral A+B
At the expense of 25% of the Heat Gauge, performs at attck that penetrates the opponent's block.
Nonetheless, this cannot break through a barrier guard.
|Break Burst||A + B + C + D while blocking or taking damage
Unleashes a powerful burst of energy that will knock back opponents.
Generally used as a last resort to escape an opponent's onslaught.
A Break Burst will consume the Overdrive Gauge.
|Overdrive||A + B + C + D
Enhances a characters' abilities very briefly.
When the Overdrive is active, the Overdrive icon will light up—its purple bar signifies how long the effect will last.
The less remaining HP the user has, the longer the effect. Also, while active, the timer stops.
|Instant Block /
|Input the command for a block / barrier block right before the opponent's attack connects. If the character lights up white, it was a successfull "instant" block.
Instant blocking reduces the time it takes to recover to neutral, and builds the Heat Gauge much quicker. Using it in conjunction with a barrier block will result in an "Instant Barrier Block".
The simplified commands makes combos much easier! Even harder moves, like Distortion Drives and Astral Heats can be executed with the touch of a button.
How to use it:
Press the FN1 Button (default layout is L1) on the character select screen, OR move the cursor to where it says "Technical", and toggle it to "Stylish", then select a character.
